We stayed in the Queen Anne room which was spacious, comfortable and beautifully feminine. The breakfasts were delicious as were the daily baked goods, especially the peach mango cake! Join us every morning at 9:00am for a homemade breakfast in the formal dining room, the bright and sunny solarium, the large front porch, or the quaint side porch.
For maximum convenience, there is a coffee/tea station on the 2nd floor landing that patrons can use before or after breakfast time, available 24/7.
All food is prepared in our kitchen to ensure all sanitary conditions. Instead of our traditional buffet style, we will only be serving plated breakfast to ensure the safety of all of our guests. Special breakfast accomodations can be made for patrons who need to depart earlier in the morning.
Special requests such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or vegetarian, need to be made prior to check-in.

On top of hosting guests from all over, the Gifford-Risley House Bed & Breakfast is also home to a number of small events throughout the year that are available for anybody who is interested; you don’t have to be staying with us to attend. Wow! This property and the hosts are fantastic! We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. The welcoming nature of the owners and ambiance of the house combined to make a wonderful experience. Location is an added plus given walking distance to downtown restaurants. The room (Queen Victoria Suite) was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was delicious both days. We’ll be back soon!

If we could give this bed and breakfast 6 stars we would! In every regard, this place excels. The house was spectacularly restored with love and care. Each room has a period design.
Monika and Z were the perfect hosts, friendly, warm, informative. Breakfast and the snacks were homemade and delicious. The location was perfect for exploring the Brandywine Valley and Philadelphia. Can’t wait to return and bring friends.

We had a lovely stay at the Gifford-Risley House. Friendly and welcoming, beautiful house and porches, lovely room (we were in Art Deco) and attached bath, great breakfasts, and perfect location (walking distance to the many restaurants on State St.). If we have a reason to stay in Media again, will definitely pick the Gifford-Risley House.

I don’t think 5 stars is enough! We had a family luncheon after a service. Monika and Z helped from the very beginning and worked with the caterers to make sure everything went smoothly. They set up the tables to make sure everyone was comfortable, allowed us to bring our own music and set up pictures and a slide show. It’s almost like they became part of the family. Very warm people and very welcoming. If you’re having an event you need to check this place out!

You have to stay at the Gifford-Risley House! We can’t recommend this place enough. We stayed for one night with our 4 year old son, and had a great time. The house was so beautiful and owners Monika and Z were so friendly and helpful. It was really a pleasure talking with them. We stayed in the Empire Room, which had a super comfy memory foam mattress…the AC in the room worked great, and the bathroom was huge…My husband worked from his computer in the library in the morning, and the wifi was great. Will definitely return soon to this beautiful gem!
